“To ensure that programs are in place for the well-being, care, compensation and commemoration of serving and ex-service Defence Force members.”
One of the Key Roles of our RSL includes Commemoration and Remembrance. This is done by celebrating significant Remembrance Days such as ANZAC Day & Remembrance Day, along with others.
The Ode comes from a poem written by Laurence Binyon in 1914, it is part of a larger poem titled “For the Fallen”. It is recited on days of important for past and still serving members of the military such as ANZAC day and Remembrance Day and every night at 6pm in venue.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
Lest We Forget
Our annual ANZAC Day commemorative service is held to pay tribute to all Australians who have bravely served and made the ultimate sacrifice in various wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.
We pay tribute to the courageous individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice and express our gratitude to the 60,000 Australians who dedicated themselves during Australia's decade-long involvement in the Vietnam War.
A Remembrance Day ceremony will be held on the 11th of November at Swan Hill RSL in memory of those who have died or suffered during their service to this country.
